Convention and exhibition centres are a significant sector for Rider Levett Bucknall in the USA, Australia, the UK and a growing sector in China, India and the Middle East. They are costly to build, but bring countless community rewards through the creation of jobs and the injection of funds into the wider community when visitors arrive in town for the latest expo or convention.

ATRIUM LINK EXTENSION, HONG KONG

The Atrium Link extension expands the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centres existing facilities to provide a spacious venue for Hong Kong's leading trade fairs.
Since the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was completed in 1988 (Phase I) and extended in 1997 (Phase 2), there has been significant demand for large-scale events. The new Atrium Link Extension spans across the water and accommodates three main levels of Exhibition Hall expansions. The Atrium Link Extension, completed in 2009, has been built over a site of 8,500 m2, increasing the exhibition hall capacity from 46,608 m2 to 66,608 m2.
Rider Levett Bucknall provided cost and delivery advice for the Phase 2 extension of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in 1997 and was reappointed in 2009 by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to provide full quantity surveying services from inception to completion.

WHOLE-OF-LIFE PLANNING, AUSTRALIA

With its post Olympic configured capacity of 83,500, the ANZ Stadium is Australia's second largest stadium.
Rider Levett Bucknall was first engaged by ANZ Infrastructure Services Ltd in 2005 to conduct the Technical Review for due diligence purposes.
The Stadium Australia Trust, along with Stadium Australia Management Ltd holds the lease to ANZ Stadium for the period to 2031 from the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA).
Rider Levett Bucknall were re-engaged in 2009 to provide an independent specialist advisor service to undertake a review of the Major Maintenance Plan provisions and forecasts for the Stadium over the next 22 years, the remainder of the current lease term.
The objective of this review was to determine the adequacy, reliability and reasonableness of provisions. The review will ensure the Stadium is maintained in accordance with the Trust's and SOPA's requirements in terms of conformity with industry standards and best practices and the Stadium's policy objectives as a world class entertainment venue.

WORLD CLASS CRICKET VENUE, UK

The £30 million redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Ground incorporates a 9,000-seat stand with new conferencing and banqueting facilities for more than 700 members and a bar, restaurant and VIP lounge.
Other facilities within this state-of-the-art venue include the addition of 10,000 square feet of exhibition space, extra hospitality boxes and a replacement club shop and museum. A new media and press suite is also being created with new facilities for players and match officials.
In addition to the new stand and pavilion, permanent floodlighting will be installed to allow the ground to host more day and night events. As well as preserving the ground's international status, the creation of the new stand and conferencing facility will allow the Cricket Club to create revenue all year round.
The new stand will be the first phase of wider plans to redevelop the perimeter of the ground and introduce a range of commercial, leisure and residential uses to make Edgbaston a true destination to live, work and play.
