The hospital service lines include cardiology, general medicine, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, normal newborn, neurology, orthopedics, surgical oncology, respiratory, and urology. The hospital opened with approximately 29 inpatient beds and has the capacity to expand to 60.

All patient rooms are private, acuity-adaptable rooms. The hospital includes two operating rooms, a cath lab, and a C-section room, along with the necessary ancillary spaces to support them. Each operating room has a minimum clear floor area of 600 square feet. The emergency department features 14 exam rooms and 3 observation rooms and is designed to accommodate approximately 19,000 visits annually. The radiology department includes X-ray, CT, and ultrasound services. Pharmacy and laboratory services are also available to support patient care.

The hospital was thoughtfully constructed sustainably, incorporating cost-effective, energy-efficient rooftop and parking photovoltaic panels.

Beginning with the schematic design phase and continuing through the construction of Tucson Medical Center Rincon, RLB has been providing valuable owner’s representative services to TMC Rincon. Their off-site and on-site presence by highly qualified professionals has been key to the project’s success. It is expected that this new hospital will be delivered successful at or under budget and on-time, which is a tribute, in part, to RLB’s leadership.

RIDER LEVETT BUCKNALL’S INTEGRAL ROLE

RLB’s contribution to the project was crucial in providing on-site Project Management and Cost Management services to maintain a constrained budget and timeline. As part of the team, which included JE Dunn for construction services and SWAIM & Devenney Group as architects, RLB provided specialized cost estimation and financial oversight throughout preconstruction phases of the project. Our role involved thoroughly reviewing estimates, ensuring that the project complied with budget constraints and maintaining a set schedule for project completion. This rigorous project management was crucial in establishing the Tucson Medical Center Rincon in the desert. This project demonstrates RLB’s expertise in handling complex and technologically advanced construction projects.

The Tucson Medical Center Rincon is not only a testament to Tucson’s forward-thinking healthcare, but also a showcase of collaborative excellence in architecture, engineering, and project management.
