Ann Bentley appointed RLB Global Chairman
July 14, 2015.
Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has announced the appointment of Ann Bentley as new Global Chairman of the practice.
Ann is a Director of RLB in the UK, which has over 400 staff. She is responsible for the development of RLB’s business vision, strategic direction, and governance.
She has been on the Global Board since 2012, with responsibility for risk management. Her new role will see her helping to shape the international strategy of the firm, and expand the offering for existing customers seeking opportunities overseas.
Ann said: ‘It is a great time to be taking on this role, as our market continues to evolve and become more and more global. Our strategy remains unchanged; we will stay independent and ensure that we continue to deliver high quality services based on outstanding technical skills, depth of experience, innovation and an absolute commitment to our clients and our people.’
‘Our clients demand the rigorous analysis of their projects, which is only possible if we are an independent, trusted advisor who can make decisions in the best interests of our customers,’ she added.
A trusted leader
Ann has over 30 years of experience working in the construction sector, joining British Rail in 1982 as a civil engineer, before moving to Bucknall Austin as a project manager in 1989. She is both a Chartered Member of the Institution for Civil Engineers (MICE) and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS).
During Ann’s time at RLB, she has played a key role in many of the firm’s milestones, including the management buyout in 2003, and the formation of the global practice in 2007.
Ann succeeds former Chairman, Philip Lo, who is Chairman of the firm’s Hong Kong and China practice. He will remain a member of the Global Board.
During his time as Chairman, Philip was responsible for helping the firm develop key relationships on a global scale. Particularly in terms of supporting long-standing Chinese clients with their overseas investment and expansion strategies.
Ann said, ‘There has been a large increase in Chinese clients looking at opportunities overseas, and Philip and his team have worked very hard to ensure that they are supported by RLB’s global network. They have introduced their clients to opportunities in Europe, Oceania and the Caribbean, helping to forge even stronger ties between the global practice, and ensuring that our service proposition is consistently and effectively maintained internationally.
‘I would like to thank Philip for his time at the helm of the Global Board, and look forward to continuing to work with him in the future,’ she added.
