RLB adds value to Capital Metro Canberra

March 1, 2016.

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) is adding value to Capital Metro through the provision of technical due diligence services to Canberra Metro, the winning consortium team.

Capital Metro is Canberra’s new light rail network, which is expected to have a transformative effect on Canberra. It represents the most significant transportation infrastructure project ever undertaken by the ACT Government. This is an important part of the ACT Government’s vision to deliver a truly sustainable and creative city, as set out in The Canberra Plan.

RLB provided services on the successful bid for the first stage of the rail network, the 12- kilometre corridor from Gungahlin Town Centre to Canberra’s Civic Centre. Consortium members include Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors, John Holland, Mitsubishi Corporation, Aberdeen Infrastructure Investments, Deutsche Bahn International and CAF.

The RLB team was led by NSW Managing Director, Matthew Harris. The firm’s infrastructure team has extensive experience in linear infrastructure projects, and an industry reputation that has been established over sixty years of business in Australia.

Matthew said, ‘We are proud to be providing advice on such a milestone project for both the City of Canberra and the ACT Government. Once completed, Canberra Metro will deliver 12 kilometres of light rail track, 13 stops, 14 light rail vehicles, a depot and 20 years of operation and maintenance – linking Canberra’s northern suburbs to the central business district.’

He added, ‘This project further bolsters RLB’s billion dollar Infrastructure expertise, which includes the WestConnex project, the North West Rail Link tunnel, the South West Rail Link and City East Tunnel.’
