RLB’s 85 Fort Street Auckland wins
June 27, 2016.
85 Fort Street Auckland has won the Hawkins Heritage and Adaptive Reuses Property Award at this year’s Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.
This is one of 14 RLB projects to be recognised on the evening, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Auckland Director, Bob Buskin.
Mr Buskin commented, ‘85 Fort Street is an exceptional restoration project, integrating an early 1900’s warehouse and a classic 1960’s office tower. The outcome is a modern, functional and highly sought-after commercial offering that preserves Auckland’s history, well deserving of its status as a 2016 winner.’
Located in the heart of downtown, 85 Fort Street is at the centre of Auckland City’s redevelopment of the CBD.
Developed by Bledisloe Property Group, the building is a 913-square-metre ‘L’ shaped site, comprising the nine-storey Chelsea House and the adjacent single-storey H.E. Shacklock Warehouse building. The cumulative GFA of the two buildings is 3,625 square metres.
The refurbishment project involves buildings from two important eras of Auckland’s commercial activity and architecture, whilst providing a modern, functional and desired commercial offering that preserves and promotes Auckland’s history. It blends the finest building representation from the early 1900s and the 1960s, with modern services and technology.
