RLB’s Te Oro Music and Arts Centre hits top note

The Te Oro Music and Arts Centre in Auckland hit the heights by winning the Coffey Education and Arts Property Award at the 2016 Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

This is one of 14 RLB projects to be awarded on the evening, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Auckland Managing Director, Stephen Gracey.

Mr Gracey remarked, ‘Te Oro is a music and arts facility for young people from the diverse Glen Innes and Panmure communities in Auckland. The building design takes in the expression of local identity, capturing many ethnicities and local artist involvement. Te Oro is well-deserving as a 2016 winner.’

Developed by Auckland City Council, the 1,485-square-metre building is located in the centre of Glen Innes’ busy shopping precinct, clustered beside a future “shared space” with Glen Innes Library, Ruapotaka Marae and a Community Hall.

The Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within New Zealand’s property development and investment industries.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council New Zealand to present the awards program for more than 18 years.

The 2016 winners were announced on 17 June at a gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland, attended by over 1,500 people.
