Applications open for the second David Bucknall Scholarship with Birmingham City University
Applications are now open for the David Bucknall Scholarship, which was established by David’s family, friends and colleagues together with Rider Levett Bucknall and Birmingham City University (BCU), to help students looking for a career in the property and construction industry.
This is the second year the Scholarship has been offered which was created in the memory of David Bucknall OBE, former chairman of RLB. The fund provides financial assistance and career advice to school leavers studying for a BSc or BEng in a Built Environment subject in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment at BCU.
Ann Bentley, Global Chair of Rider Levett Bucknall and visiting professor at BCU said: “We are delighted to offer this Scholarship for the second year. Providing opportunities and support to help students get into careers in the built environment is really important both to RLB and our industry in general.”
Guiding career development
The Scholarship gives a reduction in tuition fees and a contribution towards living costs totalling £10,500 over three years plus guaranteed work experience placements and careers guidance from RLB.
As part of the Scholarship application process, students from selected schools in the Midlands are invited to submit a short video about the built environment. If successful they will be invited to attend an interview with representatives of the Scholarship Fund and Birmingham City University.
Iman Farah Mohamed from Moseley School Sixth Form received the inaugural David Bucknall Scholarship and started studying for a BSc in Quantity Surveying in September 2016.
