5 Martin Place crowned best national development at RLB’s milestone 35th year of sponsoring PCA Awards

2017 marks the 35th anniversary of Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) sponsoring the Property Council of Australia’s national awards program.

Matthew Harris, Managing Director of RLB in NSW said, ‘Our firm is very proud to have been the key sponsor of what many call the ‘Oscars of the property industry’ for the past 35 years.’

‘The Innovation & Excellence Awards provides an opportunity to showcase and duly recognise the outstanding design, development and construction talent we have across the country,’ he added.

A spectacular refurbishment, re-engineered for the new century

This year’s RLB Australian Development of the Year was won by the spectacular refurbishment of one of Sydney’s most loved sandstone buildings, 5 Martin Place.

Dexus and Cbus Property were presented with the development industry’s most coveted prize, at the Property Council of Australia / RLB Innovation & Excellence Awards in Sydney on 5 May, 2017.

Built in 1913, as the headquarters of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, 5 Martin Place has long been known as Sydney’s ‘money-box’ building.

Re-engineered for the new century, the heritage-listed sandstone building has been extensively modernised while retaining its grand and distinctive historic features.

5 Martin Place also took home the SAS International Award for Best Office Development and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation Award for Best Sustainable Development – Existing Buildings.
