Virgin Pulse Global Challenge

This year, Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has entered the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge. Among the six thousand teams entered globally, RLB has thirteen teams. The Christchurch Team is off to a great start, very briefly sitting 2nd in the world – by cleverly waking up before the rest of the world.

This dedicated team of Neil O’Donnell, Chris Perrins, Matthew Darwent, James Linnane, Richard Warnock, Rob Watts, and Tom Chatterton is maintaining a high average step count due to their individual strengths;

Neil O’Donnell is the leader.  He is a Director of the Christchurch office holding the current personal best record of 32,000 steps. He keeps a strict regime of boot camp at 6am, running at lunch, and general roaming of his 10-acre rural property.

Chris Perrins is the muscle of the group. The gym junkie.  Every day he cycles 15 kilometres, then hits the weights, the rowing machine and treadmill – all before starting a full day’s work as an Associate Director.

Richard Warnock is the runner. He easily covers over 50 kilometres a week in preparation for his Abel Tasman Coastal Challenge in October.

Robert Watts is the resident multisport participant. Well known in the local triathlon circuit, he bikes an average of 150 kilometres a week, hits the pool for a casual 40 lengths and runs each Saturday morning with his three children in their local 5km Parkrun.

James Linnane is part-man, part-bicycle. Should you ever catch a glimpse of James, he will be on his bike. His 25-kilometre commute every day is followed by a casual ride in his backyard – the popular Christchurch bike track, Bottle Lake Forrest.

Matthew Darwent is the walker. He walks to work, he walks in the mountains, and he walks on our beaches. He just keeps walking. In fact, no one knows if he even owns a car.

Tom Chatterton is the father of four-month old twin girls. Enough said. But apart from this grueling task, he can also be found running or biking in the Christchurch Port Hills.
