September 3, 2018.

The RLB Employee Excellence Awards have been announced for 2018. Now in their fourth year, these awards recognise staff who go the extra mile to make extraordinary contributions, and in so doing, demonstrate RLB’s values.

Three individuals have been selected from a field of exceptionally high-calibre entrants.

Overall Winner

Carla Bradley
Bids and Marketing Manager, Auckland

Carla Bradley has firmly cemented her place in the business as an efficient, effective, business critical employee managing bids and marketing. She is always focused on improvement and lives and breathes everything ‘RLB’.

Carla has an outstanding track record in delivering winning, multi-million dollar complex opportunities. She has spearheaded many of our major bids (including national ones) securing key projects for the business, including Auckland City Rail Link $3.3B, Commercial Bay Development $425M, Auckland South Corrections Facility PPP $270M, Auckland Prison PPP $270m and the recently won Auckland Downtown Infrastructure Development Programme $250M.

Carla has a deep understanding of our business, the type of service models we specialise in and what we can offer above and beyond our competitors. She continues to build strong relationships both internally and externally and has the ability to bring together our best subject matter experts when identifying and promoting new services and offers for potential and existing clients.

Carla is a true blue RLB employee; dedicated to her work and has real passion for RLB, our people and seeing the business continue to grow and succeed.

Excellence in Innovation Award

Louisa Curcio
Executive Surveyor, Sydney

Risk management is an innovative service introduced in response to emerging market demand to provide greater certainty on risk and contingency allocation as part of our cost planning services. Louisa Curcio developed a keen interest in pushing this service after being driven to complete her own training in risk management, embracing the opportunity to lead the services implementation across RLB’s offices in Australia and New Zealand.

To successfully implement this innovation, Louisa developed standardised material for client briefing, meeting facilitation, technical delivery, and reporting to ensure a streamlined approach consistent with industry best guidelines and principles. This material has been endorsed by local directors and is being utilised across multiple offices.

The skillset for delivering these services requires a person with not only technical acumen, but also problem solving and decision making abilities, analytical skills, the ability to cope under pressure, as well as planning and organisational skills; and the ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner. Louisa has demonstrated all of these attributes in developing this service for RLB in NSW.

Young Achiever Award

John Maggacis
Quantity Surveyor, Brisbane

John has come to RLB from an engineering drafting background and had the necessary skills to hit the ground running upon his commencement as a quantity surveyor. John has exceptional skills for his age and his ability is well above par.

John has been deeply involved in the Queen’s Wharf Development and has autonomously run the project from document control, scoping, general quantification and cost planning. Without John’s tireless efforts, the service RLB is providing to Destination Brisbane Consortium (DBC) on a very challenging and important project, would not be possible. John is very well regarded by DBC and has a wealth of information on the Queens Wharf Project.

John has demonstrated outstanding achievement within his short time at RLB and he has greatly contributed to ensure every project he works on is profitable for the business.
