RLB provides certainty to Pitt Street Over Station Developments
August 10, 2020.
Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) congratulates Oxford Properties (‘Oxford’) following the lodgement of the Development Application (‘DA’) for their premium office building above the new Sydney Metro Pitt Street Station, Pitt Street North. RLB is excited to be a part of this journey with Oxford, having been appointed to lead the quantity surveying services.
Pitt Street is one of seven new underground stations for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest line, which extends the new metro rail from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour, through the Sydney CBD to Bankstown. RLB has been involved with the two over station development applications connected to the Pitt Street metro site, Pitt Street South and Pitt Street North buildings, for which Oxford is currently seeking approval.
Plans for a 39-storey office building and retail plaza to be built above the northern entrance of the metro station were recently lodged. To be located on the corner of Pitt and Park Streets, the striking building has been designed by Britain’s Foster + Partners, in collaboration with Cox Architecture.
In June 2020, Oxford lodged plans to develop a 39-storey, build-to-rent residential building above Pitt Street South. Designed by Bates Smart and comprising 234 apartments, the project will be the first large scale build-to-rent residential building for the Sydney CBD. The building will be located above the southern entrance to the metro station, on the corner of Pitt and Bathurst Streets.
RLB was engaged directly by Oxford at the end of 2019 to provide quantity surveying on both buildings. Led by Director Oliver Nichols, the RLB team, including Vicky Seretis and Nichole Louie, is achieving a female to male ratio of 60:40 in favour of women, and is collaborating with a significant number of females in senior roles as part of the Oxford development and design team.
RLB Director Oliver Nichols said, ‘We are thrilled to be delivering commercial certainty to these impressive over station developments, which will provide a vibrant new community and office hub in the middle of central Sydney.’
Whilst engaged by Oxford at the end of 2019, RLB has been involved since the 2018 conceptual bid phase and was part of the initial winning joint venture team for this over station development. RLB has been engaged directly by Oxford to provide quantity surveying services, from concept design through design development to contract sum agreement with post- contract services to follow.
