Empowering future generations of engineers

The B405 building for the Faculty of Engineering/Te Herenga Mātai Pūkaha by Jasmax is the most complex building The University of Auckland has ever developed.

The cutting-edge research and learning facility is in the running for the Education Property Award and the Heritage and Adaptive Reuses Property Award at the 2020 Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) provided commercial certainty led by Hamish Dackers.

The project encompasses refurbishment of neighbouring structures to create an interconnected engineering precinct, uniting previously discrete building elements into a navigable and cohesive whole.

Five engineering departments will share a building for the first time in twenty years unlocking the powerful potential for new learning pathways and research innovation.

The remarkable flexibility and precision design of laboratory spaces within the 32,000-square-metre building are unparalleled in New Zealand.

The building demonstrates advanced seismic design, energy and material efficiency, and will be an object of research in its own right for years to come.

Together with the Property Council New Zealand, RLB is passionate about promoting and celebrating leading practice in the property sector via the Property Industry Awards program.

Congratulations to our 2020 finalists.
