Overview
This $215-million facility is the largest earthquake recovery project in Christchurch East. It includes a new outpatients facility, orthopaedics, spinal injury treatment and rehabilitation, radiology and brain injury treatment. This new 32,000 square-metre hospital will generally focus on facilities for older people.
The Details
Seismically designed to Serviceability Limit State (SLS) 2, it required innovative seismic detailing to structural and façade elements.
The new hospital will include 230 new inpatient beds, and a new outpatient department able to manage 80,000 visits a year.
RLB provided preliminary estimates, value engineering, full schedule, tender reviews, financial reporting, variation evaluation, progress claim review and certification.
