Carbon assessment program, Sheffield, United Kingdom
Client: South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
RLB performed a comprehensive carbon assessment, establishing a strategy to meet ambitious carbon reduction targets.
We presented a detailed data collection and analysis, which complied with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
This allowed the client to understand the carbon performance of their assets, at a glance.
The assessment could also be simply disintegrated for environmental managers, to show the activities responsible for ‘hot spots’ in their footprint.
The study of the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue (SYFR) operations for the previous two years across 24 stations analysed:
- Energy and water consumption for each station and respective buildings
- Fuel consumption for SYFR’s full fleet of fire appliances, vehicles and equipment
- Business miles travelled by air, road, rail and sea
- Fugitive emissions from building HVAC systems
- A waste audit
- A staff travel survey
