HUMBOLDT BAY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DECOMMISSIONING

Initially conceived in the early 1950s to address the region's growing need for power, the Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant underwent decommissioning.

The scope included decontamination measures, decommissioning, and the safe demolition of a water reactor and nuclear power plant.
After the demolition, remediation was performed. The remaining structures on the 13-acre site include the Humboldt Bay generating station and office space. Long and short term environmental and public safety measures were taken during the decommissioning process.
As experts in construction risk management, RLB provided construction planning and construction scheduling and coordination services for the decommissioning of the Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power Plant in northern California.
