The New Science Centre will be located next to the Chinese Garden MRT Station and is targeted for completion around 2025.

The proposed design capitalises on the waterfront location and garden setting. The plan is to be well-integrated with Jurong Lake Gardens and the future neighbouring tourism development, bolstering Jurong Lake District’s array of unique attractions for both Singaporeans and tourists.

The Details:

RLB is pleased to be part of a multi-disciplinary team under Architects 61, in collaboration with Zaha Hadid, for this prestigious nation-building project.

The New Science Centre will be a synthesis between physical and natural sciences; a place where visitors are entertained through learning; and a hub for community bonding.

Beyond the exhibitions, educational facilities, laboratories and studios, visitors will also be engaged in learning through the surrounding landscape.

Visitors will not only be treated to a scenic view of the Jurong Lake waterfront and the iconic Pagoda at the Chinese Garden, they will also be able to participate in various educational activities purposefully and seamlessly integrated into the building’s surrounding landscape.

In providing the nation with a world-class learning centre and an iconic educational attraction, it is paramount to find an equilibrium between time, cost and quality.

Value management has been conducted early on, to ensure client objectives are crystallised and that these functional requirements are prudently achieved.
