PELL MARINE SCIENCE LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND
This project involved the renovation of the existing Pell Marine Science Library for the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography.
The 50,000 SF multifunction facility integrates library and educational functions, administration, research, and social activity.
The design incorporates the use of green roofing, geothermal heat, natural ventilation, and photo-cell-operated sun-shading devices. Even the recycled brick and concrete from the existing structure were utilized as stone dust and landscape material.
RLB provided cost estimating services for the renovation.
