The Samoan Parliament Chamber, or Maota Fono, is a 1,100 square-metre building located on the Mulinuú peninsula to the west of Apia, Samoa.
This project involves the rebuilding of the iconic chamber in a similar form to the original 1970’s building, including members’ seating, speaker’s podium, hansard area, public gallery, government and opposition meeting rooms, speaker’s meeting room, translation and press areas.
The Maota Fono is an important symbol of Samoan independence and culture. The aesthetics of the new parliament reflects Samoan traditions, with art works, crafts and artefacts an integral part of the interior design and building openings.
