VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE INDOOR CORPS PHYSICAL TRAINING FACILITY

Founded in 1839, Virginia Military Institute (VMI), located in Lexington, Virginia was the first state-supported military college in the nation.

VMI, like most colleges, has many sports facilities including a football field, a basketball court, a baseball field, a track, a soccer field, and a pool. At the end of 2016, VMI added an indoor training facility.
Designed by HKS Architects, Inc. the 205,000 SF VMI Indoor Corps Physical Training Facility features a 200-meter, six-lane hydraulically-banking track, and two long/triple jump and vault runways. The LEED Gold certified building includes spectator seating for roughly 1,800 people. Obstacle courses including a rock-climbing wall and a high ropes confidence course are part of the new facility to enable physical training.
RLB provided construction cost estimating services during the schematic design document and provided CM Bid review services at the construction document phase.
