RLB’s Senior Building Safety Consultant, Bex Gibson, has been recognised as one of Building magazine’s 40 Under 40: The Rising Stars to Reshape Construction.

The annual listing acknowledges those within the built environment, from site managers and architects to sustainability consultants and data consultants as the most promising talent working in the construction industry today.

Bex didn’t start her route into construction in the conventional way, having had an earlier career in performance and venue management. However, this experience taught her how to manage complex operations and work under pressure. She retrained completing a MSc in Construction Management and now is an integral part of RLB’s Building Safety advisory team.

RLB’s Bex Gibson comments,

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be included in Building’s 2026 40 Under 40 list. It’s a huge honour and a fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of building safety. We need to stop thinking of buildings as something we hand over and start thinking about what it’s actually like to live in them. The next generation should care about how buildings perform over time: how safe they are, how they’re maintained and how people experience them day to day. Too many decisions are made without understanding those long-term realities.”

Sarah Draper, RLB’s People & Culture Director, comments,

“At RLB, we’re passionate about creating an environment where our people can make progress, so it’s particularly rewarding to see that progress recognised across the wider industry. Bex has brought a real passion for building safety to her role and is a fantastic example of the talent helping to shape the future of our industry. Congratulations, Bex – a thoroughly deserved achievement.”
