RLB CRANE INDEX®
Perth’s RLB Crane Index® rose from 91 to 93 index points, close to the average of the past decade. The city now has 40 active cranes, with 12 new cranes added and 11 removed.

Highlights
The residential sector has 21 cranes in operation (53% of total), which is a similar proportion to recent years.
Major projects include:
- Garden Island defence project (two cranes)
- T1 Airport Carpark (two cranes)
- Garden Towers, East Perth (two cranes)
- Curtin University Science Building (two cranes)
New additions include:
- Commercial: Nedlands Square, Nedlands
- Data centres: MA1 Maddington Data Centre, Maddington
- Health: Murdoch Hospital Oncology Facility; Specialist Medical Centre, Claremont
- Residential: Manhattan, Applecross; 19 Hugo Street, Stirling; Somerset Towers, Burswood; Robert Street, Como; The Terraces, Claremont; 387 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth; Serai, Mosman Park
Cranes were removed from suburbs including Joondalup, Midland, Perth, Mosman Park, Nedlands, Bull Creek, Perth, Cannington, Sorrento, Subiaco. Outside of mining and engineering, the WA construction sector is growing strongly. Total construction work done in WA in 2025 was $49.7 billion, up 2.3% compared to 2024. Engineering fell by 0.6%, residential activity grew by 9.5%, and non-residential activity rose by 8.2%.
