This year marks a significant milestone for Neil: 25 years with RLB, following a journey that began in Aberdeen and led him to Aotearoa in 1999.

Starting his career as a quantity surveyor, Neil’s progression to Technical Director in 2021 reflects his technical depth, steady leadership and long-standing commitment to clients and colleagues alike. Known for his calm, considered approach, Neil has built a reputation for diligence, collaboration and trusted advice.

Neil has found his professional niche in healthcare, working extensively across complex public-sector projects. A defining relationship has been with Counties Manukau Health (now Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau), where he supported programmes of work for more than two decades. This enduring partnership is a testament to the trust he has built and the value he brings to long-term client relationships.

Among Neil’s proudest achievements is the Tiaho Mai Acute Mental Health Unit at Middlemore Hospital, where he played a key role in transforming an existing facility into a culturally appropriate, functional and dignified space for patients and staff.

Richard Anderson reflects:
“Neil is calm, knowledgeable and deeply professional. He instils confidence, is highly respected by clients and colleagues, and has provided unwavering leadership over many years. He is a pleasure to work with and a great friend to many of us at RLB.”

Beyond projects and titles, Neil is recognised for the way he works — approachable, thoughtful and always willing to support others. His promotion to Technical Director formalised what many already knew: that his contribution extends well beyond individual projects to the strength and culture of the business.

Neil’s 25 years with RLB reflect a career built on trust, consistency and meaningful impact. His colleagues look forward to the continued contribution he will make as healthcare delivery evolves and the next generation of quantity surveyors grows under his guidance.
