Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) congratulates Iglu on the national win for Iglu Mascot, recipient of the Award for Best Purpose-Built Student Accommodation Development at the 2025 Property Council / RLB Innovation & Excellence Awards.

Winner: Award for Best Purpose-Built Student Accommodation Development

Project: Iglu Mascot – Iglu

Located just 200 metres from Mascot Station, the 11,757 square-metre development provides a connected home for more than 430 students. Designed by Bates Smart, its bold architecture and central green courtyard set a new standard in student housing, balancing affordability, amenities and community.

RLB delivered cost certainty and clarity throughout the project. From early feasibility to completion, the firm worked closely with Iglu to optimise value, manage supply chain risks and ensure long-term financial performance without sacrificing design ambition.

“RLB is proud of our work at Iglu Mascot, helping our client strike the right balance between affordability, amenity and long-term value.”

Every aspect of the development supports student wellbeing – from its landscaped courtyards and rooftop courts to its study rooms, gyms and communal spaces. RLB’s expertise helped bring these elements together in a project that redefines student living as a holistic, community-based experience.

For more than four decades, RLB has stood alongside the Property Council of Australia as Principal Sponsor of its Innovation & Excellence Awards, celebrating projects that advance design, sustainability and social value across Australia’s built environment.
