RLB’s Melbourne office at Level 25, 55 Collins Street has achieved 6 Star Green Star Interiors certification, the highest rating awarded by the Green Building Council of Australia, placing the workplace among the very best performing interiors in the country.
The certification is the result of the Forward to 55 initiative, which set out to create a workplace designed around the people within it. Working alongside project partners and consultants, the team targeted a 6 Star outcome from the outset, embedding sustainability into design, procurement and delivery rather than treating it as a compliance exercise at the end.
The workplace scored strongly across Green Star Interiors rating categories including energy efficiency, indoor environment quality, sustainable materials and procurement, and long-term operational performance. Air quality, acoustic comfort, visual comfort and natural light were each considered not as separate criteria but as direct contributors to the daily experience of the people who work there. The result is a space where sustainability performance and occupant wellbeing are the same outcome, achieved through considered design.
Material selection was central to the rating. The team applied a rigorous approach to procurement, prioritising products with verified environmental credentials and low embodied impact, from material finishes to shared spaces and planting.

The certification aligns with RLB’s broader ESG commitments and its global goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2030. Having set out to achieve 6 Stars, delivering on that ambition carries real weight — both as an internal milestone and as a reference point for the advice RLB provides to clients across the built environment.
Tony Moleta, Managing Director of RLB in Victoria, said:
Achieving 6 Star Green Star Interiors certification is something RLB in Victoria is incredibly proud of. It reflects a genuine commitment to sustainability — not just in the words we use, but in the decisions we make and how we operate every day.
From design through to occupation, sustainability was embedded at every stage. Achieving the highest Green Star rating confirms that commitment has been carried through to completion and independently verified at a world‑leading standard.
As advisors to the property and construction industry, we believe it’s important to lead by example. Our workplace demonstrates what best‑in‑class sustainable design and delivery looks like in practice, and we’re proud to share this outcome with our clients and industry peers.
RLB extends its thanks to the project partners and internal teams who contributed to delivering the Forward to 55 workplace. The certification is a collective achievement, and the focus now turns to embedding sustainable behaviours into day-to-day operations and using 55 Collins as a benchmark for project delivery across the business.
