Our achievements are renowned: from the early days of pioneering quantity surveying to landmark projects such as the Sydney Opera House, HSBC Headquarters Building in Hong Kong, the 2012 London Olympic Games and CityCenter in Las Vegas.

      EXTRACTS FROM EARLY MEASURING BOOKS 1799 AND 1834
      The pioneering spirit of RLB can be traced back to when Henry Cooper opens a firm of quantity surveyors in Reading, England.
    • 1850
      BACKED BY ONE OF THE MOST INGENIOUS AND PROLIFIC FIGURES IN ENGINEERING HISTORY
      With a second office now open in London, the firm carries out engineering projects under the direction of I.K. Brunel, the famous Victorian Civil Engineer.
    • 1895
      A NEW PARTNERSHIP BEGINS
      Henry Cooper’s grandsons sell the London practice to John Rider Hunt. A partnership agreement is signed between the London practice and the original practice in Reading.
    • 1910
      THE FIRM IS RENAMED TO RIDER HUNT & PARTNERS
      John Rider Hunt passes away and the London firm is renamed Rider Hunt and Partners. The firm later opens offices in provincial centres throughout England.
    • 1947
      BUCKNALL AUSTIN OPENS IN THE UK
      Bucknall Austin first opens in the United Kingdom, and subsequently grows to over 350 people with offices throughout the UK.

      RIDER HUNT & PARTNERS OPENS IN MELBOURNE
      Rider Hunt and Partners’ first overseas office is opened in Melbourne, Australia, by Harry Wexler.
    • 1962
      LEVETT & BAILEY OPENS IN HONG KONG
      Levett & Bailey is established as a local firm of chartered quantity surveyors in Hong Kong. From a modest beginning, the practice grows with the economic expansion of Hong Kong to become one of the largest in the world, with branch offices throughout China.

      OFFICE OPENS IN SINGAPORE
      Rider Hunt and Levett & Bailey partner to establish a Singapore office.
    • 1985
      BUCKNALL AUSTIN ESTABLISHES A BASE IN SAUDI ARABIA
      Saudi Arabia, officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is a country in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula.
    • 1991
      RIDER HUNT CONSTRUCTION SERVICES IS FORMED
      Rider Hunt with Levett & Bailey join forces with Construction Services Limited (CSL), a Honolulu firm specialising in construction cost estimating, to form Rider Hunt Construction Services.
    • 1995
      NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PHILIPPINES
      Based in the Philippines, Rider Hunt Liacor joins Rider Levett Bucknall.
    • 2003
      CARIBBEAN OFFICE OPENS
      Bucknall Austin joins forces with a local practice in Barbados and establishes their first Caribbean office.
    • 2007
      THREE BECOME ONE. RLB IS BORN.
      Rider Hunt, Levett & Bailey, and Bucknall Austin come together to form Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB). RLB establishes an office in Dubai. Offices subsequently open in Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat and Riyadh.

      RLB EXTENDS ITS REACH ACROSS EUROPE
      The RLB | Euro Alliance is formed – extending Rider Levett Bucknall’s reach across 32 European countries.
    • 2013
      RLB ENTERS THE AFRICAN MARKET
      RLB teams up with Pentad to enter the African market. The alliance between RLB and Schumann Consult is established.
    • 2014
      NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN CANADA
      Toronto-based CRSP Cost Consultants joins Rider Levett Bucknall.
    • 2018
      A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS IN AFRICA
      RLB opens a new chapter in its expansion strategy following partnership with Mauritian QS leader Hooloomann & Associates.
    • 2023
      RLB TODAY – LOCAL KNOWLEDGE, GLOBAL NETWORK
      RLB reaches a global head count of more than 4,000 people, up from 1,750 people when we formed in 2007.
