AGRIVAAL

Located in South Africa’s administrative capital, Pretoria, the iconic Agrivaal building was constructed in the 1930’s and is a government-owned, heritage building.

It was identified for restoration and modernization and is standing proud as the head office of the National Department of Public Works. The 41,000 square-metre building comprises 10 office levels and 6 basement levels, and presents an elegant blend of heritage elements and contemporary local design. It incorporates a state-of-the-art energy management system and has received a 4-star Green Star Rating by the Green Building Council of South Africa, making it the first national government building to receive this award. It is renowned for being an environmentally-innovative refurbishment and the first of its kind for the government.
