MTN DATA CENTRE - CENTURION DATA SWITCH EXTENSION
MTN is a telecommunications company that constructed a data centre in 2011 which operates entirely independent of the country’s electricity grid.
It has earned the company carbon credits by using gas, diesel and electricity as a power solution. It also functions as a key switching and transmission centre for MTN’s network.
The extension of the data centre comprises the addition of a first floor, constructed in a fully operational ground floor data space. The 2,500 square-metre first floor included the installation of two 1250kVA generators and a 600kW UPS with 30-minute batteries. First fix mechanical and fire services installation also formed part of the contract.
