SUN TRAN BUS MAINTENANCE & STORAGE FACILITY

The multi-phase Sun Tran project includes the development of a master plan, design, and construction of a facility to house operations for a 250-bus fleet.

The main goals for this 21-acre site included minimizing the impact on surrounding properties, implementing energy and cost efficiencies in site building design, fostering a positive client image, and improving the streetscape.
Phases II and III have been awarded LEED Gold certification by the USGBC.
RLB was brought on board by the design team, headed by GLHN Architects & Engineers Inc. in association with RNL Design, to develop independent, third-party cost estimates during the schematic design phase.
The team also helped develop a total project cost to implement the new bus storage and maintenance facility serving the growing Tucson area.
