Located in the mid-Atlantic region, Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States. Named after the nation’s first president, George Washington, the city is an exclusive jurisdiction founded in 1791 from land donated by Maryland and Virginia.

Washington D.C. is home to all three branches of the federal government; the Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Famous landmarks include the White House, National Mall, Washington Monument, Library of Congress and the Lincoln Memorial.
