Creating a better tomorrow

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBLITY
RIDER LEVETT BUCKNALL

As an independent global practice of consultants, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is at the core of our values, and firmly anchored in our corporate culture.

Our CSR programs reflect how we align our values, behaviours and business practices with the expectations and needs of our stakeholders, including customers, employees, suppliers, local communities, regulators, special interest groups and society as a whole.

At Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) in Oceania, we understand this involves going beyond legal minimums and that doing the right thing matters. We engage with our stakeholders, and then act responsibly.

We are committed to "Creating a Better Tomorrow" and go beyond just saying so, we go on to prove it:

We address CSR under 4 core pillars: People, Clients, Environment and Community

RLB in Oceania is committed to:
  • Fairness and Equality of Opportunity
  • An inclusive and safe working environment
  • Reducing our environmental footprint
  • Purposeful stakeholder engagement
  • Delivering financial, social and environmental value
  • Communicating, monitoring and improving our CSR performance
  • Working with clients to create a better tomorrow

PEOPLE

Investing in our people underpins our continued success.

We know that by building a diverse and inclusive workforce we are building our business for the future. Diversity & Inclusion strategies and policies exist across every area in which we work.

We focus on:
  • Staff wellbeing through various health and wellness programs for all our people
  • Building a diverse workforce by recruiting, retaining, developing and promoting a team that reflects the communities in which we live and work
  • Closing the gender pay gap by increasing the proportion of women in our workforce, particularly within senior positions

CLIENTS

We believe in delivering successful and sustainable outcomes for our clients.

We bring our understanding of the longer-term social and economic impact of our activities to help our clients build for a better future.

We focus on:
  • Understanding our clients’ sustainability requirements and embedding these as outcomes of our service delivery
  • Offering a growing suite of sustainability services, including life-cycle costing, carbon modelling, sustainability assessments
  • Measuring or forecasting the Social Value of our projects (social, environmental and economic uplift)
  • Ensuring we work in a sustainable way

ENVIRONMENT

We are committed to minimising our environmental impacts and delivering positive environmental outcomes.

We have a robust internal sustainability policy where we look to source and embrace the most environmentally sound building practices but with viable economic benefits.

We focus on:
  • Reviewing our activities to identify environmental impacts and opportunities for improvement
  • Responsible sourcing of materials and reducing our use of single-use plastic
  • Reaching our environmental management targets, covering both our day-to-day business activities and the services we deliver for our clients

COMMUNITY

We give back to the communities in which we live and work, now and in the future.

Our program of CSR, community and social impact activities supports our commitment to creating a better tomorrow.

We focus on:
  • Fundraising and volunteering activities by supporting local, national and international charities and recognising the contribution of our people through an annual award
  • Opening up opportunities to empower all graduates to support and encourage young people, who are not in education, employment or training, into the construction industry
  • Partnering with leading industry companies to promote STEM education in Australian high schools

Having over 4,300 people based in over 140 offices across more than 40 countries,
means we work on landmark projects across the globe.
