BURWOOD HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT

This $215-million facility is the largest earthquake recovery project in Christchurch East

It includes a new outpatients facility, orthopaedics, spinal injury treatment and rehabilitation, radiology and brain injury treatment. This new 32,000 square-metre hospital will generally focus on facilities for older people. The new hospital will include 230 new inpatient beds, and a new outpatient department able to manage 80,000 visits a year.

Seismically designed to Serviceability Limit State (SLS) 2, it required innovative seismic detailing to structural and façade elements.
