CHRISTCHURCH TOWN HALL CONSERVATION PROJECT

Following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks, the Christchurch Town Hall suffered serious damage to its structure and lateral spread to the foundations.

This conservation project involves strengthening, repairing and refurbishing the town hall to 100% of New Building Standard (NBS). Ensuring it provides for the performing arts and civic needs of the city for a further 50 years.

The council’s aim is that the Conservation of the Town Hall delivers solutions that are innovative, while maximising community benefit. Taking a collaborative approach, the council is using the NEC 3 form of contract, and a bespoke collaboration software tool tailored specifically for the project.

RLB is providing quantity surveying services including risk management.
