JUSTICE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES PRECINCT

Creating the largest government co-location project in New Zealand’s history

CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND

JUSTICE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES PRECINCT

The Precinct forms part of the government’s blueprint for the central city rebuild.

Chosen for its direct access to the city’s main arterial roads, the site includes a justice building, an emergency services building and a parking building.

The nineteen courtrooms consist of the Māori Land Court, Youth Courts, Family Courts, District Courts, High Court, Environment Court and other specialist jurisdictions.

An advanced approach to seismic design (base isolation / Importance Level 4 standard) will help it withstand a future emergency. The Emergency Operations Centre will have its own power, water, and waste disposal for at least 72 hours.

NZ Fire Service, Police and St John, along with Civil Defence and Emergency Management agencies are located adjacent to the Emergency Operations Centre for seamless collaboration.

RLB provided cost control/estimating from concept to detailed design, value engineering advice, tender analysis and negotiation, post-contract cost control, monitoring and reporting, and final account negotiation.
