MELBOURNE PARK REDEVELOPMENT
Melbourne Park has been the home of the Australian Open Tennis since the purpose-built venue opened in 1998.
The centerpiece, Rod Laver Arena, has a seating capacity for 15,000 and a retractable roof – its innovative design being world-first at the time.
Rod Laver Arena has established itself as Australia’s premier multi-purpose venue.
RLB has a long and successful history at Melbourne Park, having provided quantity surveying services on the initial development and subsequent upgrades, extensions and refurbishment projects through the years.
A major upgrade project set for completion in 2019, will ensure Melbourne Park remains at the forefront. Incorporating a new Administration and Media Building, extensive Rod Laver Arena upgrades and a new pedestrian footbridge, it will further enhance access from Melbourne’s CBD.
Beyond 2019, a further stage will see construction of an additional 5,000-seat show court, a new Function and Media Facility, and enhanced patron experience and connectivity between the east and western ends of the precinct via a roofed central terrace deck.
RLB services provided to the State have included master-plan cost planning, and pre- and post-contract quantity surveying. RLB has again been commissioned by the State to provide complete quantity surveying services.
