MURDOCH UNIVERSITY NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING
Murdoch University and Multiplex have commenced construction of the New Academic Building which will become the largest mass engineered timber building in Western Australia.
RLB is providing quantity surveying services on the four-storey building, which comprises formal and informal learning areas, as well as academic workplaces.
The design team lead by Lyons includes collaboration with Silver Thomas Hanley, The Fulcrum Agency and Officer Woods Architects.
Beyond the use of the timber frame and cladding, the building has significant embedded technology and ESD (Environmental & Sustainable Design) initiatives achieving a 6 Star Green Star Status.
The landscape program will include the creation of a new main entrance to the campus from Discovery Way that will form an “arrival court” and the creation of indoor/outdoor student spaces designed to maximise connection to Murdoch’s bushland environment.
