POINT RESOLUTION BRIDGE

Designed by New Zealand architects Warren & Mahoney, this pedestrian bridge replaces the existing 1930's bridge, which had become structurally unsound.

Curving steel columns morph into angular arches around the etched concrete body of the bridge, over a road, railway and waterway in Auckland.

The steel supporting the deck pays homage to the original bridge by echoing its three arches. While the curved concrete deck, modelled on the hull of a ship, features a series of etched patterns by artist Henriata Nicholas, that look like delicate water ripples.

Originally, three options were considered; restoration, continue with additions made in the 1970s, or build a new bridge.
