SHRINE OF REMEMBRANCE – GALLERIES OF REMEMBRANCE
Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance has been expanded beyond a static monument, to an exhibition space and education facility.
The development includes the Visitors’ Centre, Education Centre, Galleries of Remembrance and offices, all concealed in the shrine’s vast, previously unused undercroft.
The Shrine can now even better accommodate activities for the 2014–2018 World War 1 commemorations.
Four zigzag-shaped garden courtyards in the surrounding hill lead into the new spaces.
The designs are inventive, yet respectful of the Shrine’s historic and symbolic functions.
RLB provided cost management and quantity surveying as well as advisory services.
