Last Friday, 9th February, Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) hosted a thrilling football showdown, welcoming esteemed counterparts from the construction industry to participate in a unique sporting event aimed at nurturing relationships, fostering camaraderie and now promoting wellbeing among construction industry professionals.

Construction heavyweights RLB, Woods Bagot, WSP, and Mace gathered on the football pitches of Dubai Sports City for RLB’s latest endeavour to promote cross-industry connections through sports. This initiative, spearheaded by RLB, originally sought to strengthen professional relationships but the events are increasingly being seen as contributing to wellbeing initiatives for participating companies and their staff.

The football tournament marked the third in a series of sporting events with padel and badminton tournaments kicking off the series in 2023 and attracting participation from key construction organisations such as RLB, Khansaheb, Woods Bagot, Grimshaw, WSP, and Mace, each representing diverse facets of the industry.

Farida Gilmore, Communications Manager at Rider Levett Bucknall and organiser of the events, emphasised the multifaceted benefits of these gatherings, stating,

It’s becoming increasingly clear that these events not only address a need to network with our industry peers in energising, enjoyable settings but they are also providing our teams with an opportunity to step away from their desks and boost their physical and mental health through exercise and connection.

Looking ahead, RLB remains committed to creating more sporting events in collaboration with industry peers and hope that these events continue to align with broader company objectives to enhance staff wellbeing while promoting a culture of physical and mental wellness in the UAE construction space.
