The Adelaide Convention Centre Stages 1 and 2 has taken out two prestigious awards for a dynamic approach to tourism that is driving growth and opportunities for South Australians.

Developer Lendlease and owner Adelaide Venue Management won the Hickory Award for Best Tourism and Leisure Development at the Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards in Sydney last week.

This follows the Adelaide Convention Centre taking home the Rider Levett Bucknall South Australian Development of the Year Award – the state’s top property honour – on 10 May.

A South Australian business tourism success story

The Adelaide Convention Centre is a city icon and a South Australian business tourism success story.

Since opening its doors in 1987, the venue has delivered more than $1.4 billion in economic benefit to South Australia. The recently-expanded venue has transformed Adelaide’s skyline and is expected to inject an additional $1.92 billion into our economy over the next 25 years.

The redevelopment incorporates two new buildings that have boosted the Centre’s overall footprint to 20,000 square metres of multi-purpose space.

Innovation and market leading capabilities

‘RLB is proud to have provided cost management and quantity surveying services to help create Australia’s most flexible and technologically-advanced convention centre,’ says Managing Director of RLB in South Australia Andrew Suttie.

‘The expansion shines a spotlight on not only the Adelaide Convention Centre’s incredible innovation and market-leading capabilities, but also fosters a tremendous sense of South Australian pride.’

2019 Innovation & Excellence Awards

This year, 152 finalists competed for national recognition in 20 categories.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council to present the awards program since its inception in 1982.

‘Our vision and values at RLB remain a constant in everything we do and are echoed in these awards; creating value through the skills and passion of our people, challenging the conventional, and delivering excellence,’ says RLB Global Chairman, Stephen Mee.

‘We strive in the pursuit of excellence. Our commitment to create a better tomorrow, with both confidence and agility, is testament of our continued support of these awards,’ Stephen concludes.

Award winners were announced on Friday 17 May at a gala dinner at the International Convention Centre Sydney.
