Congratulations to Precinct Properties New Zealand Limited and the project team who recently completed the Commercial Bay Retail Precinct.

Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has been a core part of the development since its inception more than eight years ago providing commercial certainty on all stages.

The project has had its fair share of challenges, such as incorporating the construction of intrinsically linked but structurally separate twin rail tunnels beneath it for City Rail Link.

‘Commercial Bay is a truly vibrant retail precinct and a huge contribution to Auckland’s city centre. From the outset, it has been billed as a world-class destination, a place with a distinct focus on quality in both its design and its concentration of retail and hospitality offerings,’ says RLB’s Managing Director in Auckland Steve Gracey.

‘Commercial Bay’s design is so complex and considered, and being part of the project was a unique experience that has developed me personally as a quantity surveyor,’ says Senior Quantity Surveyor in Auckland John Grimley.

‘We enjoyed a great relationship with the team who worked tirelessly throughout and overcame plenty of challenges together to achieve the great result we see now. We’re all exhausted, but it’s a wonderful feeling,’ John adds.

Other members of the RLB team in Auckland involved in the project delivery include Associate Director Neil Taylor, Senior Quantity Surveyor Daniel Keatley and Quantity Surveyor Sam Mace.

The completion of this complex and prestigious development is a great achievement for Precinct Properties, RLB, the project team, tenants, and Auckland City.
