Rider Levett Bucknall has achieved net zero certification for all its offices in Aotearoa New Zealand.

RLB is now a Toitū net carbon zero certified organisation. RLB worked with New Zealand-based Toitū Envirocare to accurately measure its greenhouse gas emissions footprint and establish strategies to manage, reduce and offset its impacts.

An independent audit verified RLB’s results. RLB then offset any remaining unavoidable emissions through verified carbon credits to achieve carbon neutrality.

“We are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint and recognise our responsibility within the construction industry to play our part,” says Steve Gracey, RLB’s Managing Director in Auckland.

“As the largest independent quantity surveying business in Aotearoa New Zealand, and as a trusted cost consultant for major public and private projects, RLB is in lockstep with our clients on climate action.

“We provide advice on embodied carbon in construction, promote whole-of-life thinking and support clients to achieve their Green Star ambitions. Net zero certification was a natural move for us.”

RLB, which has a footprint in 40 countries, has established a global target of net zero by 2030 for all its offices. The RLB New Zealand team’s achievement follows similar net zero certification in Australia.

“We are immensely pleased to be part of the global movement of people and businesses making positive change to help safeguard the future of our only planet,” Mr Gracey adds.

“RLB will continue to work with Toitū, our clients, and as a business to help deliver a cleaner, greener and more sustainable built environment for Aotearoa New Zealand.”
