33 Bowen Street, Wellington received the Hays Commercial Office Property Merit Award at this year’s Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

This is one of 14 RLB projects to be recognised, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Wellington Principal, Bevan Hartley.

Mr Hartley said, ‘33 Bowen Street, the new home for the Ministry of Education, was an outstanding revitalisation project of a major building. The end result is a truly modern and flexible working space for their staff and visitors.’

Developed by the Ministry of Education, the $30 million office redevelopment revitalised this building and provided the Crown with a truly modern, flexible workplace. A complete seismic upgrade to 100% NBS and a new 12-level stairway has enabled multi-million-dollar savings for MoE, and enabled a 15-year lease for Vinta.

The Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within New Zealand’s property development and investment industries.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council New Zealand to present the awards program for more than 18 years.

The 2016 winners were announced on 17 June at a gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland, attended by over 1,500 people.
