A tribute to Sam Bassilious

Sam passed away peacefully on Tuesday 23 April with family by his side. He died from liver failure and Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, for which he had been in treatment since being diagnosed just before Easter.

“RLB has been immensely fortunate to have someone with the wealth of knowledge that Sam brought to our practice for these past 17 years,” said Managing Director Stephen Mee.

Sam was a wonderful colleague and an inspiring mentor who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Over his career Sam was not only a valued member of our team but also a cherished mentor and pillar of RLB.

A registered architect, Sam was respected throughout the industry for his deep project experience and a passion for technology and innovation.

Sam played a pivotal role on diverse projects from the inspiring upgrade of Quay Quarter Tower at Circular Quay to the residential gem, Jewel, at Wentworth Point to Amazon’s game-changing fulfilment centre at Oakdale.

“Sam was always cheerful and willing to lend a hand, and his absence will be profoundly felt by each one of us at RLB,” Mr Mee said.

“Sam will be remembered for his professionalism and commitment to training our staff and delivery for our clients, as well as his gentle nature and the values and kindness he inspired in those around him.”
