East Village in Zetland has picked up the GHD Woodhead Award for Best Mixed Use Development, at the 2016 Property Council of Australia/ Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards.

Developed by Payce Properties, East Village was one of seven RLB projects to win an award on the night. The RLB project team, which provided cost management and quantity surveying services, was led by Director Richard Rigby.

East Village has quickly become a thriving, living space catering for a rich diversity of people and demographics. As a ‘one of a kind’, it’s setting the benchmark for successful retail developments. The interior of the retail centre was designed by Koichi Takada Architects.

According to Managing Director of RLB in NSW, Matthew Harris, the development provides a lesson in harmonising retail and residential design.

‘Australia’s property industry is delivering leading buildings, and these awards acknowledge the best found across the country,’ he said.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present the Innovation & Excellence Awards program since its inception in 1982.

The 2016 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Award winners were announced on Friday 3 June, at a gala dinner at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, attended by over 900 people.
