The newly expanded Macquarie Centre has been crowned ‘The Yardi Award for Best Shopping Centre Development’, at the 2016 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation & Excellence Awards.

Macquarie Centre is one of seven RLB projects to win an award on the night, having provided cost management, quantity surveying and advisory services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Ray Berger.

Developed by AMP Capital Investors, the centre is located in North Ryde within a thriving business park and university precinct. An innovative approach was taken to reposition the centre.

The development created further fashion, entertainment and dining options, and an enormous ambience upgrade, making it a vibrant hub for the community. With more than 360 specialty stores, the most international brands under one roof, and a strong stable of Australian designers.

Managing Director of RLB in NSW, Matthew Harris said, ‘Macquarie Centre’s development has positioned the centre as the fashion destination for Sydney’s north and a vibrant hub for the community.’

RLB has partnered with the Property Council of Australia to present the Innovation & Excellence Awards program since its inception in 1982.

The 2016 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Award winners were announced on Friday 3 June at a gala dinner at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, attended by over 900 people.
