The new Mental Health Inpatient Building (Ngā Rau Rākau) in Hastings was awarded the Fagerhult NZ Health and Medical Property Merit Award, at this year’s Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

This is one of 14 RLB projects to be recognised on the evening, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Auckland Director, Bob Buskin.

Mr. Buskin said, ‘Ngā Rau Rākau, located on the Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital site in Hastings, is the transformation of a new and enhanced facility, providing quality mental health services to the people of the Hawke’s Bay.’

The 2,100-square-metre new mental health facility is a specifically designed, contemporary ‘fit-for-purpose’ building.

He added, ‘The Hawke’s Bay District Health Board fully deserve to win this merit award for its passive design features, and enhanced operational energy efficiency of its building services systems.’

The Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within New Zealand’s property development and investment industries.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council New Zealand to present the awards program for more than 18 years.

The 2016 winners were announced on 17 June at a gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland, attended by over 1,500 people.
