Northwest Shopping Centre in Auckland has been recognised by winning the RCG Retail Merit Property Award at this year’s Property Council of New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards.

This is one of 14 RLB projects to be recognised on the evening, having provided cost management and quantity surveying services on the project. The RLB project team was led by Auckland Director, Geoff Speck.

Mr Speck remarked, ‘Auckland’s newest Mall, Northwest Shopping Centre, is a new 2-level shopping complex that reflects the west architecturally, drawing on the tones of the west coast beaches and its surrounds.’

‘The Northwest is an area that’s growing at an exponential rate, and Northwest Shopping Centre provides the community with a truly exciting shopping experience,’ he added.

Developed by Stride Property Group, it forms part of a comprehensively master-planned Massey North Town Centre, designed by The Buchan Group.

Comprised over two levels, this 35,035-square-metre centre’s main concourse is enclosed by a 200-metre-long clerestory. This encompasses 100 specialty stores including fashion, food court dining and some of New Zealand’s most iconic retailers.

The Property Council New Zealand / Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within New Zealand’s property development and investment industries.

RLB has partnered with the Property Council New Zealand to present the awards program for more than 18 years.

The 2016 winners were announced on 17 June at a gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland, attended by over 1,500 people.
