It is with great sadness that Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) confirms Brian Cardiff, co-founder of RLB in Wellington, has passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Tony Sutherland, Managing Director of RLB in Wellington said, ‘It is with great sadness that we learned of Brian’s passing. His enormous contribution to RLB and as an industry expert is well known and honoured.’

He added, ‘Brian’s achievements, leadership and the qualities he brought to the firm are too numerous to catalogue; not to mention his ability to get on with people and build long-term relationships with clients, and the infectious enthusiasm he maintained for the quantity surveying profession.’

Brian began his career with RLB in 1962, establishing an office and presence in Wellington under the name Hogg & Cardiff. Even after his retirement from the practice, Brian continued to provide advice and share his experience on projects locally and nationally.

He was a remarkable repository of experience and expertise and today the directors and staff of RLB pay tribute to our colleague and dear friend ‘Cardy’.
