The first modular housing project in Hong Kong has recently been completed.

Initiated by Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), the project named “Nam Cheong 220” is located at Nam Cheong Street in Sham Shui Po. RLB is honoured to have provided QS consultancy services for this meaningful project.

The 4-storey “Nam Cheong 220” provides 89 modular housing units of 1 to 3 persons, with unit sizes ranging from 130 to 293 square feet. As the first social housing project which adopts prefabrication and modular integrated construction (MiC) technology in Hong Kong, the project has understandably encountered many challenges. RLB has been a key player and was instrumental in delivering this successful project for HKCSS.

The project started its assembly at the end of December last year and obtained the Occupation Permit in July this year. “Nam Cheong 220” aims to provide affordable and transitional social housing for the grassroot families so as to improve their living conditions.
