WIMBLEDON GROUNDS

Wimbledon Grounds is a 51,000-square-metre mixed-use regeneration project that includes a new purpose-built stadium for AFC Wimbledon.

The regeneration comprised the demolition of the existing Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium and the provision of 636 brand new mixed-tenure homes and exceptional amenities. The development, which received planning approval in December 2017, also includes leisure and retail facilities. In addition, an 11,000-seater stadium for AFC Wimbledon has been built on the site. Despite the challenges posed by the site’s high level of contamination and limited space, the project was completed in three phases, with the final phase being successfully completed in early 2022.

RLB provided, from inception to completion, Employer’s Agent and Cost Management services to the 50:50 Joint Venture Partnership between Galliard Homes and Catalyst Housing, for this major regeneration programme. The 14-acre development site is on brownfield land, located off Plough Lane in Wimbledon.
